Garden Fresh Cocktail Ideas Using Honey Liqueur

September marks the start of cool breezes and shorter days, but that doesn’t mean summer has to end just yet! Enjoy the remaining warm nights with a refreshing garden cocktail using Greek Lightning Honey Liqueur. A garden cocktail with freshly-picked herbs, home-grown fruits, and a dash of honey is all you need to help you transition into the fall. Don’t have a green thumb? No worries! You can still enjoy a refreshing drink with fresh produce from your local farmer’s market.

Honey Paloma Cocktail

A paloma is traditionally made by mixing tequila with grapefruit flavored soda, but our recipe for a honey paloma cocktail has a fresh twist to it! For one glass, you’ll need:

  • 1 oz Greek Lightning
  • 2 oz tequila (of choice)
  • 2 oz fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 2 oz club soda
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp honey syrup

Fill up a glass of your choice with ice and pour in your fresh grapefruit juice, some fresh lime juice, and some honey syrup. Honey syrup is simply honey dissolved into water! Honey, by itself, can harden in cold drinks, but a honey-based simple syrup can sweeten anything, hot or cold, without causing consistency issues. Next, you’ll want to pour in your tequila, your Greek Lightning Honey Liqueur, and top off your drink with some club soda. Stir your drink to combine the ingredients and garnish your glass with a grapefruit wedge.

For extra presentation points, before pouring anything into your glass, moisten the rim with a lime wedge and turn it upside down into a plate of salt (or sugar) with grapefruit zest. Twist the glass back and forth to make sure the rim is fully coated.

Cucumber-Melon Cooler

A cucumber-melon cooler will make you feel like you’re at a luxurious spa! It’s the perfect refresher for winding down after a long week. For one glass, you’ll need:

  • 1 oz Greek Lightning
  • 2 oz white rum (of choice)
  • 5-8 fresh mint leaves, plus two for garnish
  • 2 cups watermelon chunks, seeds removed
  • ½ large cucumber, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp honey syrup

Puree your mint leaves, watermelon, and cucumber chunks in a blender, and strain the mixture into a bowl or pitcher. Stir in your fresh lime juice and honey syrup, along with your rum and Greek Lightning Honey Liqueur. Fill up a tall glass with ice and a couple mint leaves or cucumber slices. Pour your cocktail into the glass and garnish with a small watermelon or lime wedge. Adjust the sweetness to your liking with more or less honey syrup.

Basil-Berry Honey Smash

This strawberry basil cocktail is the perfect poolside or lakeside accompaniment on a hot, sunny day, and just as suited for an evening out on your patio. Treat yourself! For one drink, you’ll need:

  • 1 oz Greek Lightning
  • 1 oz vodka (of choice)
  • 3 large basil leaves
  • 3 fresh strawberries, plus one for garnish
  • 1 oz honey syrup
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 can of sparkling water

Begin my muddling your strawberries and basil leaves, then transfer into a pretty glass or mason jar. Add your honey syrup and lemon juice, then add in your vodka and Greek Lightning Honey Liqueur. Add in a few ice cubes and top off your drink with some sparkling water. Garnish your cocktail with a basil leaf or a few thinly sliced strawberries.

Lavender Honey Gin and Tonic

We’re adding a twist to your classic gin and tonic cocktail with some lavender and Greek Lightning Honey Liqueur. With this recipe, you’re going to want to make a full pitcher to serve your friends and family because it’ll take some time to draw out the fresh smell and taste of lavender. Make the most of your time by making a pitcher! For five to six drinks, you’ll need:

  • ½ cup Greek Lightning
  • 1 cup gin (of choice)
  • 2 tbsp dried lavender
  • 2 tbsp butterfly pea flower (for color)
  • 4 oz lime juice
  • 2 oz honey syrup
  • 4 cups tonic water

For the first part of this sweet drink, you’ll need to combine your dried lavender with the cup of gin, and let it sit for five to 24 hours. It will take at least five hours for the gin to be infused with the smell and taste of lavender. While your lavender soaks in your gin, you’ll want to combine your dried butterfly pea flowers with your lime juice and let it sit for an hour. When mixed with something acidic, like limes, butterfly pea flower turns a pretty purple color.

Strain your lavender-gin and the butterfly pea flower juice into a large pitcher or punch bowl. Stir in your Greek Lightning honey liqueur, tonic water, honey syrup, and some crushed ice. For added presentation, pour your lavender honey gin and tonic into some white wine glasses and garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender and a lime wedge.

When you use Greek Lightning Honey Liqueur in your cocktails, you’re creating something legendary. Drink like the gods of Olympus do with this delicious honey spirit!
